Broiler's On the Way

We have ordered 15 Cornish Rock Broilers from Ideal Poultry scheduled for pick up on December 17th. We have only butchered one chicken so far but we are very excited about the addition of these birds to the farm and learning a new skill (plucking & skinning of chickens). We are planning on keeping 3 of these birds (2 hens & 1 Rooster) to provide an ongoing source of eggs to produce our own broilers. These are not the genetically adapted Cornish X, this is just the regular Cornish. Our next batch of roasters will be the dark Cornish (pictured above) and we plan to grow a flock of these birds. In the future we hope to offer both free range Cornish Roasters & the little tasty Cornish hen. A new year a new product...Roasters.
