Well, we have been talking about putting in water by the chicken coop for a while. We have a two prong attack for chicken water.

  1. We are putting in a spigot over in the animal area so we do not have to carry very heavy 3 & 5 gallon water jugs to the birds.

  2. We are putting gutters on the chicken house to catch the rain and use that to water the animals. I think we spend about $10-15 month on water for them and about $10-15 to water the garden (Our garden however is about to ten-touple). Gutter the chicken house should cost about $20 & the shed about $80. We hope to save about $20-30 a month off of our water bill. Thus, increasing the farm profits.

We are also building a broiler house. We are building it so we can move it around the property. Especially, as we learn more natural ways to raise chickens. Our chickens must be confined at night or we might as well step out side ring a dinner bell and let the racoons, foxes, coyotes & puma know that dinner is served! But during the day we want them to roam about freely.
