Officially a farm

At last the coop is ready for chickens. I am so excited to get the chickens we will have to get them in two visits since our dog kennel will only hold about 6 birds! I purchased the waterer, 30# feeder (Next time we (as in Wayne) will make our own feeder) though I think.& chicken lay pellets moments before getting the chickens. Although I thought I was ready, I was not completely ready: I still had to add the nesting material, water, food. The poor birds had to wait in the kennel for a good hour before they were let loose.

So we purchased 9 chickens from Joe's "Egg Business", he's selling half of his flock (50 birds) due to some health issues he is having. The chickens we purchased are Production Red's that were born last June. A Production Red is a cross of a Rhode Island Red, New Hampshire Red & Longhorn.
